Police have scaled down the search for a missing Far North diver who has been named as Rangi Tapu, 25, from Auckland.
An extensive search was launched last Thursday after the man failed to return from snorkelling off rocks on the eastern end of Cable Bay.
His catch bag and
one glove had washed ashore.
Police started a search using two coastguard boats, a plane, police staff and family members also helped.
The police dive squad, search and rescue staff along with local police staff with Far North LandSAR volunteers began searching for Mr Tapu.
