Sometimes looking at videos of kittens on YouTube on your boss's time is just not enough to get you through the day.
So the SPCA and Uber have banded together to deliver kittens across Auckland and Wellington today.
This means that between noon and 4pm, app-based taxi service users willbe able to book a "kitten car" for $30, which will bring a special delivery of feline joy, complete with SPCA staff member chaperone to your workplace.
Each kitten delivery lasts 15 minutes, delivery will be of between two and three kittens.
All proceeds go to the SPCA and Uber says the promotion is a bid to help raise awareness of the importance of pet adoption - especially in the lead-up to Christmas, when animal shelters can hit kitten capacity.
The California-headquartered company has also done the promotion in more than nine US cities - which resulted in the adoption of more than 300 kittens.
The kittens will be handled by SPCA staff and volunteers, who will monitor their well-being and stress levels. The kittens will also be given time for rest and relaxation during the day, an Uber spokeswoman said.
Users will need to designate a special space for the kittens so that they do not roam wild around the office.
The kittens available are special SPCA ambassadors, so will not be immediately available for adoption, but information about adopting a cat will be left behind by staff.
How it works: • Open your Uber app between 12pm and 4pm tomorrow. • Request the "KITTENS" option in your app. • If kittens are available, you and your friends will get to enjoy 15 minutes of kitten cuteness.
