Men face charges after joy-ride in digger

Save Three men are facing charges after taking a digger for a joy-ride in the Lower Hutt suburb of Wainuiomata early today.
A resident called police at 2.45am after hearing the digger start and drive along a reserve behind some houses, Radio New Zealand reported.
         Constable Allies Edge told RNZ one
         of the men ran off when police arrived, but he was caught by a police dog. The other two were still on the digger.
        
Police were yet to work out how they were able to start the digger.
