A military memorial service will be held tomorrow for three soldiers killed in Afghanistan last weekend.
Corporal Luke Tamatea, 31, Lance Corporal Jacinda Baker, 26, and Private Richard Harris, 21, died instantly when a 20kg roadside improvised explosive device destroyed their Humvee in Afghanistan's northeast Bamiyan Province on Sunday.
Their bodies were flown home yesterday and greeted with an emotional ramp ceremony attended by family and colleagues at Christchurch International Airport.
They will be honoured with a full military sendoff at Burnham Military Camp - where they all served - tomorrow at 1pm.
They will then be returned to their families for private funeral services next week.
The Burnham service comes just a fortnight after a military commemoration service for two other Burnham-based soldiers, Lance Corporals Pralli Durrer and Rory Malone, both 26.
They were killed when their patrols went to the aid of ambushed Afghan police in Bamiyan province on August 4.
New Zealand's military toll in Afghanistan stands at 10.
The Taleban has claimed responsibility for the latest attacks.
