Mauriceville School is regrouping after losing its second teacher in the latest entitlement round.
Principal Rebecca Stevens said the roll was 20, six shy of the cut-off for a second teacher.
Discussions were yet to be held with trustees and parents about staffing for the coming year.
"I was ateaching principal anyway and we will still have part-timers. We're unsure what we'll be doing for the year but that will be sorted in talks between trustees and parents," she said.
"I've taught sole charge before, and there will be no negative impact on the children at all."
School trustees and the Ministry of Education had over the year to September contributed funds for a junior classes teacher, Ginny Hawke, which had allowed Ms Stevens and senior class teacher Sarah Wing to complete weekly professional development sessions.
Ms Hawke, a first-year teacher, had also benefited from the classroom experience.
