A new council officer will be hired to ensure the Riversdale Beach Sewerage Scheme runs smoothly.
Masterton District Council special projects manager Ian Steer said the new role was originally advertised two months ago under a different title, wastewater and irrigation officer.
He said they received many applications but theideal person was unable to take the position after already accepting another offer. "While they had a good range of skills in some areas, no one really had the skills we were looking for in pasture management," he said.
The irrigation and pasture management officer will be in charge of making sure the Riversdale and Homebush Sewerage Schemes meet the conditions of their resource consents. Mr Steer said the council had received three applications for the new position so far.
"We're required to have a person in charge of the irrigation and pasture management who has the required skills to ensure we meet resource consent conditions," he said.
