Masterton freestyler Kirsten Cameron was in record breaking form at the Masters North Island swimming short couse championships held in Taupo.
Competing in the 30-34yrs age group, Cameron set national records in both the 800m and 1500m freestyle events.
Her time for the 800m of 9min 34.56secs bettered the previous mark by
2.5secs while her time of 18min 5.29secs in the 1500m broke the old record held by one of the country's best-known swimmers Rebecca Perrott by a remarkable 54secs.
Cameron also won the 400m freestyle, 200m freestyle and 100m freestyle events and was second in the 50m freestyle. She was first equal overall for the number of points registered in her age group.
Cameron's husband Richard Parkes also picked up a bronze medal in the 30-34yrs age group as did Derek Smith in the 45-49yrs age group. Those medals weree based on overall performances across all events for those age groups.
Other Masterton swimmers to perform with credit were Ingrid Brookes, Ngaire Clarke, Paul Maguire and Liz Brown. Clark was first in her 100m butterfly event, Brooks came up with personal best times in the 400m freestyle and 50m butterfly and Brown wonthe 100m breaststroke.
Clarke, Brooks, Brown and Cameron combined to win the medley relay for teams with a cumulative age of between 160 and 239 years.

Paul Maguire: Fifth in 200m freestyle in 3.08.13, sixth in 100m freestyle in 1.19.03.
Ngaire Clarke: Second in 400m medley in 8.00.39, third in 200m medley in 3.43.35, first in 200m butterfly in 3.48.11, second in 100m butterfly in 1.50.32, second in 50m butterfly in 43.44, fifth in 100m backstroke in 1.57.00.
Ingrid Brookes:Second in 200m medley in 4.08.41, second in 400m freestyle in 7.37.53, second in 100m freestyle in 1.38.12, second in 50m freestyle in 41.42,
Second in 50m butterfly in 53.41, third in 50m backstroke in 56.44.
Liz Brown: Second in 200m breaststroke in 4.06.07 first in 100m breaststroke in 1.57.84, fifth in 50m breaststroke in 53.65.
Derek Smith: First in 1500m freestyle in 22.15.31, first in 800m freestyle in 11.45.61, second in 400m freestyle in 5.42.45, second in 400m medley in 7.11.62, first in 200m butterfly in 3.28.78.
Women 160-239yrs medley relay: Ngaire Clarke, Ingrid Brooks, Liz Brown and Kirsten Cameron first in 3.00.46.
Mixed 120-159yrs freestyle:Ngaire Clarke, Richard Parkes, Derek Smith and Kirsten Cameron third in 2.14.73.
Mixed 160-199yrs medley: Ingrid Brooks, Liz Brown, Derek Smith and Richard Parkes ninth in 3.02.98.
