Marlborough police are investigating the unexplained death of an 87-year-old woman in Blenheim.

In a statement to media, police said a forensic examination of a "local address" was ongoing after staff were called there yesterday.

The statement said: "The matter has been referred to the Coroner and police are continuing investigations to help determine how the woman died.

"No further information is available at this time."
