Volunteers have been hard at work installing equipment at a new playground in Masterton's McJorrow Park.
Work started after the Masterton District Council consulted the community and took on board many suggestions about the park's redevelopment.
The project is costing $150,000, with Bruce Buchanan Ltd doing the groundwork and constructinga basketball half-court, while Park Supplies installed the new playground.
Community help to finish off the project has been sought and council spokesman Sam Rossiter-Stead says there has been plenty of interest.
On Friday, volunteers utilised a break in the wild weather to edge the playground and move a load of woodchip.
Mr Rossiter-Stead said there would be other opportunities to assist and help make it a space the entire community could enjoy.
