Manawatu crash victim named

Police have named the woman killed in a road crash near Palmerston North on Thursday.

She was Hilary Ruth Drawneek, aged 64, of Linton, near Palmerston North.

The crash happened about 12.30pm at the intersection of State Highway 57 and Kara Rd, on the northern outskirts of Shannon.

Ms Drawneek was towing a trailer in wet conditions when her Toyota 4WD lost control and left the road. The vehicle collided with a power pole, rolled over and caught fire.

Ms Drawneek, 64, was the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle.

The cause of the crash is being investigated and anyone with any information is asked to contact police.
