Police are still investigating the circumstances around his death, which is being treated as suspicious.
Groups of people at the property had been at Gemini Bar in Otahuhu before moving on to the addresses after 2.30am.
Three men, aged 18 to 25, stayed and put the man in the recovery position while others left, police said in a statement.
Detective Inspector Aaron Pascoe said he wanted to speak to the men and was confident they would be able to help piece together what happened.
"This group will know who they are and we need their help."
Police were also trying to find out who the occupants of a grey Audi sedan were, who left before police arrived.
A neighbour told the Herald they called the police after hearing loud screams of help and said there was a group of about 20 people on the street.
