Michael Lindsay, 22, from Upper Hutt, has been found after being missing for three days in the Aorangi Forest Park.
He went missing on Monday after becoming separated from his hunting party.
Police spokesman Nick Bohm said Mr Lindsay had walked 15km from where he had become separated and cameacross power line workers at the edge of the park who rang 111.
He was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
"The man has undergone medical checks at the Masterton Search and Rescue base and now been transported to hospital with minor injuries.
"He hasn't had food for three days so he was quite exhausted and he had a number of bumps and scrapes.
"[It's] definitely time to put his feet up for a while and recover," Mr Bohm said.
Wairarapa police and Land Search and Rescue (LandSAR) had used more than 50 volunteers and two helicopters, including an Air Force Iroquois, to search for Mr Lindsay.
