Man taken to hospital after colliding with a truck in Parnell, Auckland, while riding a e-scooter

A 35-year-old man has been rushed to Auckland City Hospital after colliding with a truck while riding an e-scooter.

Emergency services were called to Parnell Rd, between Maunsell Rd and Domain Dr, after receiving a call at 9.25am today.

A police spokesman said the man was classed serious when taken to hospital but is now stable with minor injuries.

He also clarified that it was not a Lime scooter the injured person was riding - he was on his own e-scooter.

Parnell Mobil employee Rashi Saina was alerted of the crash when one of her buyers came rushing into the store yelling "call an ambulance".

"I didn't see the crash happen but the truck driver who collided with the e-scooter had just dropped off ice to me before it happened," Saina said.

She said the guy was lying on the ground in a lot of pain.

"It looked like his left leg had been hit. He couldn't walk but he was talking okay."

Saina said that truck driver was helping the man who he'd hit and had given him some ice from his truck.

Police were speaking with the truck driver.
