Man surrenders to police over firearm incident

A 29-year-old man is being interviewed by police after a domestic incident allegedly involving a firearm in the Northland town of Kaikohe this morning.

Police cordoned off a street in Kaikohe as they searched for a man believed to be in possession of a gun.

But the man handed himself in at Kaikohe police station.

Police said inquiries were continuing and no one else was being sought.
