Man suffers burns after lighting fire

A man was badly burned while lighting a fire at his home in the central North Island this morning.

The Taihape man, aged in his 50s, suffered multiple flash burns during the incident.

He was taken to the Taihape Medical Centre by his wife, where he was treated by staff before being flown to Wanganui Hospital for further treatment.
