Man standing in road killed by trucks

Police are investigating how a Bulls man came to be standing on State Highway 1 before he was hit and killed by two trucks on Tuesday night.

Shadrach James Donaldson, 40, was struck by one truck, then another following close behind, near Motuiti Road, about 3km north of Foxton.

The accident happened about 9.45pm.

Police were investigating how he came to be in the middle of the southbound lane, spokeswoman Kim Perks said.

Mr Donaldson did not have a vehicle nearby, she said.
