Man stabbed while walking son to daycare

A father is recovering after he was stabbed by a woman as he walked his two-year-old son to daycare in Dunedin this morning.

Sergeant Chris George said the 27-year-old man was walking along Russell Street about 8.15am when the woman randomly stabbed him in his left arm.

Mr George said the woman was not known to the man.

His son was unhurt and was able to carry on to daycare, he said.

A 39-year-old woman was arrested a short time later by police, and charged with wounding with intent to injure.

She is due to appear in Dunedin District Court this afternoon.
