A man shot by a police officer after presenting an airgun has been jailed for two years and two months.
Shannon Lawson, 38, was sentenced in Waitakere District Court last week after being convicted of assault with a weapon and other charges.
The shooting happened after police went to his mother's house in the west Auckland suburb of New Lynn in July to talk to him about an arson.
Police opened fire when he presented the airgun at them.
Lawson underwent surgery in Auckland's Middlemore Hospital for gunshot wounds to his hand, arm and abdomen and was discharged a few days later.
