A pedestrian has been seriously injured after being hit by a car in Southland.
Emergency services are at the scene of the crash, on State Highway 6, the Lumsden to Dipton Highway, around 8km south of Lumsden.
It appeared a car had hit the male pedestrian, Southern District Command Centre
Senior Sergeant Brian Benn said.
A helicopter is flying the injured man to hospital.
The road has been closed and motorists can expect delays.
