Man named after body found on rail track

The man whose body was found on a west Auckland railway track yesterday has been identified as Lakhbir Singh, 39, from Ranui.

The body of Mr Singh, who was married and had a family, was found on rail tracks near the intersection with Metcalf Rd, Henderson, at 5.30am yesterday.

Police said there was nothing suspicious about his death and it would be referred to the coroner.

The incident closed the rail track from west Auckland into the city for several hours while police investigated it. Passenger traffic was disrupted for about three hours.
