Man killed in Timaru industrial incident named

A man killed in an industrial incident south of Timaru yesterday has been named.

South Canterbury man Scott James Baldwin, 43, died in the incident at the Gordons Valley Lime Company about 7.15pm, police said.

The death has been referred to the coroner.

Mr Baldwin's family were "understandably devastated" and were being supported by police and Mr Baldwin's employer, police said.

Police and WorkSafe New Zealand investigations were ongoing.

A spokesperson from Mr Baldwin's family said they understood the public interest in the incident, but asked for privacy "while we come to terms with life without him".

A spokesperson from Gordons Valley Lime Company said: "We are all in shock and devastated to have lost Scott from our team. We ask the media to not contact us while the WorkSafe New Zealand and police investigations are ongoing."
