A 71-year-old man has been crushed to death by a large branch on a property off near Whangara north of Gisborne.
The Fire Service was called to the scene 4.45pm yesterday where the man had reportedly cutting trees.
The man was dead when they arrived.
Police had yet to release the man's name.
