A man is dead after being hit by a car in Tauranga.
The section of Vale Rd between Ngatai Rd and Bureta Rd has been closed as emergency services attend the crash.
A reporter at the scene could see a blanket covering a body on the road. It is understood
the driver of the vehicle might have suffered a medical event before the collision.
Western Bay of Plenty head of road policing Senior Sergeant Ian Campion said a man crossing the road on Vale St was struck by a car, near a medical centre.
Doctors and nurses rushed out to help but a man believed to be in his 80s died at the scene, Campion said.
