Man injured in Wairoa shooting

Police are investigating the shooting of a man in Wairoa overnight.

The man was airlifted to Wairoa Hospital at 3.30am after he was shot while standing on the side of the road.

The 17-year-old was later transferred to Hawke's Bay Hospital.

A Wairoa police spokesman said the man's injuries were not life threatening.

The incident happened about the same time as an altercations outside the Wairoa Mongrel Mob headquarters and sparked an Armed Offenders Squad call-out.
