A man critically injured after a brutal attack in South Auckland yesterday is on life support and is not expected to live, say police.
Police said the 56-year-old victim and a 57-year-old woman were attacked with a wooden club at a house in Otara about 9.30am.
Police were now hunting Patrick Young, 42, who was known to the couple but warned the public he was dangerous and should not be approached.
He fled the scene in a white 1997 Toyota Corolla, registration WE4878.
A police spokesperson said today the family of the male victim were at his bedside at Auckland Hospital saying goodbye.
His life support system was expected to be turned off later today.
The woman was in a serious but stable condition and should recover.
Anyone with information about Young was urged to contact Otara police.
