"There was a gentleman that was wheelchair-bound in the building, so the brigade immediately attempted a rescue, while doing fire knock-down at the same time."
Mr Draper said they found the man in the living room once they entered the home.
It is not believed anyone else was in the address at the time of the fire.
Fire safety officers were investigating the cause of the fire.
