Man in hospital after gun threat

A 65-year-old man who threatened to harm himself with a gun was last night taken to Auckland Hospital in a severely drugged state.

The armed offenders squad was called to a flat on Great North Rd, Henderson, in West Auckland, about 5pm, where the man was threatening to harm himself. Police were forced to close off several roads as they tried to get the man to come out of the house.

About 7pm the man was found in a severely drugged and intoxicated state, Police Northern Communications said, and he was taken to hospital.
