Man in court after allegedly hitting woman in head with screwdriver

A man has appeared in Porirua District Court after allegedly hitting a woman in the head with a screwdriver.

Nicholas Joseph Brown has been charged with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Police were called to the incident last night near the Kapiti Lights shopping complex in Paraparaumu.

The woman received moderate injuries that aren't life threatening.

Brown has been remanded in custody until a bail hearing next week.
