Man identified after falling from motorway overbridge

The body of a man who fell from an Auckland motorway overbridge on Saturday has been identified.

The man was identified through fingerprints after he fell from the Bond Street overbridge on Auckland's north western motorway.

Constable Karl Bevin from the police serious crash unit said the 25-year-old man's name would be released after relatives had been told. He came from Auckland.

The man was seen walking along the Bond St bridge over Auckland's northwestern motorway in the inner city suburb of Newton about 11.40pm on Saturday.

He fell onto a westbound lane of the motorway and was hit by an oncoming car. He died in an ambulance taking him to hospital.
