Man hit by truck in central Auckland

A pedestrian has been knocked down by a truck in central Auckland.

The man had gone to cross the road in front of a bus that had stopped across the road from the Langham Hotel on Symonds St just before 12.30pm.

A witness said he saw the man walk in front of the bus and into the path of an oncoming truck.

The truck driver saw him, hit the brakes but clipped him.

"He would have had no time to stop,"Anthony Cassidy said.

"It looked like the back of the truck went over him.''

Emergency services treated the man at the scene.

The man was "pretty knocked out, dazed and confused'', Mr Cassidy said.

Police said the man had been taken to hospital with serious leg injuries.
