A man believed to have been listening to his iPod when he was struck by a passenger train continues to fight for his life in Auckland Hospital.
The 27-year-old was rushed to hospital after he was hit while crossing the tracks at the Porters Ave level crossing in Mt Eden
yesterday morning.
Today he remained in a critical but stable condition.
Police said the man was believed to have been listening to an iPod and ignored the barrier arms when he crossed the tracks.
Two trains were passing at the time, a westbound freight train and a citybound passenger service.
