Man found dead in Westport named

The man who died suspiciously in Westport yesterday was 38-year-old Mark Travis Currie, police say.

Police were called to a property in Brougham Street at 9am yesterday, where they found Mr Currie's body, Senior Sergeant Tim Crawford said.

Police were speaking with a 40-year-old woman who was living with him. She had not been arrested and was co-operating with police.

Mr Currie was originally from Nelson and had been living in Westport for the past five weeks, Mr Crawford said.

A post mortem will take place in Christchurch on Wednesday, and a scene examination was being carried out and was expected to take two days.
