Man falls to death through skylight

A man fell to his death through a skylight in a workplace accident yesterday.

Senior Constable Mark O'Brien said the accident happened about 4.45pm when the 57-year-old stepped on a skylight in the roof of Golden Stock Foods Limited in Tinwald, Ashburton.

He plummeted between six and eight metres on to a concrete floor below, possibly hitting a steel ladder as he fell.

The matter is being investigated by Occupational Safety and Health.

The dead man was named as Robin Angus Campbell of Ashburton.
