Man falls 8m from church ceiling

A 65-year-old Wainuiomata man is recovering in Wellington Hospital after falling 8m in a church.

The man had been working in the ceiling space of a Wainuiomata church when he fell to the ground, a Westpac Rescue Helicopter spokesman said.

Wellington Free Ambulance staff treated the man at the scene before a helicopter, which landed in the church carpark, transferred him to hospital at 11am,

The man was being assessed and treated for pelvic injuries.
