A man has died after a jet ski accident in Canterbury.
Emergency services were called to Kairaki Beach, near the mouth of the Waimakariri River, at about 1.20pm.
A police spokeswoman said they had received reports that a man on a jet ski was in trouble.
The man was rescued
from the water by helicopter and taken to hospital where he later died.
Local surf lifesavers and Coastguard assisted in the rescue.
