Man dies after 'minor' crash

A 92 year-old man has died after a car crash in Te Awamutu yesterday morning.

Graham Underwood of Te Awamutu died in hospital several hours after crashing at the intersection of State Highway Three and Jary Rd.

Inspector Leo Tooman said Mr Underwood was "involved in a minor collision" with another car at 9.20am yesterday.

Mr Tooman said initial indications are that Mr Underwood's car turned in front of another car.

He said Mr Underwood's 82 year-old wife was also taken to hospital.

Mr Tooman said Mr Underwood's death had been referred to the coroner and the crash was being investigated by the serious crash unit.
