Man dies after digger falls on him

A man is dead after a digger fell on him at a work site in Whenuakite, 45km from Thames on the Coromandel Peninsula east of Auckland today.

The man was trapped under the digger and was believed to have died at the scene.

Few other details were available but police said a crane was called to free the man.

Ambulance officers attended the incident but left once it was established the man was dead.
