Man dies after car lands in stream

One man has died after his car left a rural road near Hastings and ended up in a stream.

The fatal crash near the intersection of Te Aute Rd and Longlands Rd in Paki Paki was discovered by emergency services around 4.40am this morning.

The sole male occupant of the vehicle was found deceased, trapped in his car after it had left the road and ended up in a stream.

No other persons or vehicles were believed to be involved, police said.

The Serious Crash Unit was investigating, however it was too early to determine what had caused the accident.

The name of the dead man would not be released until his family were advised of the accident.
