Man dies after car hits power pole

A man who died when his car hit a power pole in Bay of Plenty early today has been named by police.

Dylan Hogg, 34, of Welcome Bay, Tauranga, died shortly after 1am when his car failed to negotiate a bend and hit a power pole on Manoeka Road in Te Puke, police said.

He was the car's sole occupant and died at the scene.
