Man dead in South Canterbury crash

Save A man was killed on State Highway 1 in South Canterbury today when his car crashed head-on with an articulated truck.
Sergeant Steven Van der Heyden of Oamaru police said the man died at the scene of the accident, which took place just north of Glenavy about 4.30pm.
"It appears
that the car had pulled into the north-bound lane and collided with a truck heading north," he said.
The deceased, a young man, was the sole occupant of the car.
No other injuries were reported.
