A man is dead after crashing a car through a bridge barrier and plummeting onto a car park.
Police said the man crashed in Vivian Street, New Plymouth, at about 2.40 this morning.
"The vehicle has driven through a bridge barrier and fallen approximately 5 metres coming to rest in
a car park below," police said in a statement.
The man, aged in his 40s, was the only person in the vehicle.
The cause of the crash was not yet known and the Serious Crash Unit was investigating.
