A man has died after his car crashed with a petrol tanker in Christchurch this morning.
Police said the vehicles collided at the intersection of Brougham and Selwyn Street, Addington, around 5am.
The driver, a man in his 40s, had to be cut from the vehicle by the Fire Service.
St John said the man was taken to Christchurch Hospital Emergency Department in a "very serious condition", with multiple serious injuries, including head and torso injuries, however he died in hospital.
The driver of the truck received minor injuries.
