A man has been cut of out his car after a crash near Whangarei.

Police say the man was trapped when the car ended up in a ditch off Whangarei Heads Road in Parua Bay.

Emergency services were called just before 9am this morning.

Police say a member of the public helped lay cones out on road, which is not blocked.
