Man critical after being trapped under car in West Auckland

A man is in a critical condition after becoming trapped underneath a vehicle at a property in West Auckland this afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to Waerenga Place, Titirangi, following reports a person had been struck by a car at 12.50pm.

A northern fire communications spokesman said the victim was in a critical condition.

He has been taken to Auckland City Hospital for treatment.

A police spokeswoman said officers attended "an incident'' at the address, where a man had become trapped underneath a vehicle.

"The Serious Crash Unit is in attendance and the full circumstances of the accident are not yet clear,'' police said.

"However, we do not believe anyone else is involved."
