Man charged with murdering five-month old baby

An Auckland man has appeared in the Manukau District Court this morning charged with the murder of a baby girl.

The five-month-old died on Thursday in Pukekohe after suffering a fractured skull and broken leg.

The 24-year-old man accused of murdering the child was known to the victim.
He did not enter a plea.

He has been granted interim name suppression and was remanded in custody until next week where he will reappear in the High Court at Auckland.

The victim's name has also been suppressed.
