A man has been charged with murder after a fatal assault on a Nelson man over the weekend.
Bruce Andrew Mortimer, 46, died on Saturday night from injuries sustained in an earlier incident at Nelson's Franklyn Village residential units about 2.30am.
Police arrested two local men, also Franklyn Village residents,aged 17 and 27.
The two men were charged with assault with intent to injure.
Police today said the 27-year-old man would face an additional charge of murder.
