Man arrested over stabbing

A 37-year-old man stabbed in the chest early this morning is undergoing surgery at Middlemore Hospital.

A 36-year-old man known to the victim has been arrested and will appear in the Papakura District Court today to face a charge of assault.

Manukau Police spokeswoman Jan Colville said more charges could follow depending on the extent of the victim's injuries.

The incident happened at 1.55am in Conifer Grove and police have found a knife at the scene.
