Man arrested over sexual assault of teenager

A 19-year-old man has been arrested over the alleged sexual assault of a teenage girl in a park in Auckland's Glen Innes.

The assault, reportedly involving two men, took place in Maybury Reserve about 9.30pm on July 27.

Auckland police said they had arrested a Glen Innes man yesterday. He was charged with assault and sexual violation by rape.

Police said the man was remanded in custody and was scheduled to appear in court again today.

Investigations were ongoing and police have called for anyone with information on the incident to come forward.
