Man arrested over assault on woman at massage parlour

A 26-year-old man arrested for assaulting a woman at a Hamilton massage parlour was caught with a large sum of cash allegedly stolen from his employer.

Police were called to the central city massage parlour in the early hours of Monday last week.

Acting Detective Sergeant Daryl Smith of Hamilton police said a South Auckland man was arrested and charged with male assaults female in relation to the incident.

"When found he had a large sum of cash on his person which we established he had taken from his employer's premises the night before, and he has also been charged with burglary in relation to that matter," Mr Smith said.

The man was remanded in custody ahead of a bail hearing next month.

A day after the massage parlour incident, police said a 14-year-old boy robbed an Alexandra St store in Hamilton.

Mr Smith said police arrested the boy yesterday.

"Inquiries revealed that shortly before the robbery this offender had withdrawn cash from an ATM using stolen cards so he was charged with using a document for pecuniary advantage and aggravated robbery.

"He was also charged with possession of a knife and cannabis after these items were found on him when located."

The boy appeared in the Hamilton Youth Court yesterday and was remanded until April 29. He was also referred to Youth Aid.

Mr Smith said both incidents were traumatic for the victims.
