Man arrested, charged with murder after woman’s death in Clutha, Otago

A man has been charged with murder after a woman was found dead and another person was seriously injured following an incident in the Clutha town of Crichton.

A man has been arrested and charged with murder after a serious incident in last month.

Emergency services were called to a home on Adams Flat Rd about 6.10pm on January 23, where a woman was found dead and a second person was critically injured in Crichton, a settlement in the Clutha region.

Detective Senior Sergeant Nik Leigh said a man has now been charged with murder after a bedside hearing today.

“We understand this is a distressing event for the small community,” he said.

“Police would like to reassure residents that officers are not searching for any other people in relation to the matter.”
